In 1750 BCE, the Egyptians transformed hieroglyphs to over 20 symbols called Proto-Sinaitic to represent phonetic sounds. It was considered the earliest trace of alphabetic writing and it led to the development of several modern alphabets including Greek, Roman, and Latin. It was also used when writing poetry, script, history, code of laws and so forth that allowed us to absorb knowledge and culture from past generations.
